What gets migrated?
Asysco Migration Technology (AMT) helps you migrate from an A-Series platform. We deal with every corner of the mainframe environment: the applications, batch processing and the actual data in the mainframe databases.
Using AMT you will be able to migrate all of these to LION (among others):
- LINC,
- Workflow Language (WFLs),
- COBOL,
- X-GEN,
- ALGOL,
- Flat files, and
- Data based on the DMSII DASDL descriptions or Keyed-IO files
No changes in business rules
Of course, each of the above has different migration requirements. Which is why we have created multiple translators to handle each of them separately. All of this migration is done with absolutely NO changes to your organizations’ business logic. Your current business rules are preserved and no re-engineering is required.
Asysco eases the transition of mainframe developers to the Windows environment because of the similarities between LION and the programming language they are used to. This reduces the amount of training needed. AMT provides its own language and development environment to maintain, enhance and create new applications.
LION features
LION allows web services and migrates COBOL applications as web-enabled - with no coding changes. It even allows legacy databases to be migrated to the Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle 8i and 9i or IBM DB2 8.1. Mainframe users are provided with the control center operations functions they are used to, such as server maintenance, job control and security, message center and performance statistics. LION’s real time query function allows queries against the new SQL based database and also makes it possible to view past transaction paths logged by users with the transaction playback function.
