Asysco the leading provider in mainframe migrations

Frequently asked questions about implementation

How do we prepare for a migration?

As part of a Discovery process, we will produce a Discovery document that will outline all the necessary steps required for the migration project to be completed successfully.

How do we support our migrated system after conversion?

Once the migration project has been successfully implemented, Asysco Customer Support will be available 24x7x365 for all types of questions and issues. Asysco Customer Support will also be the single point of contact for any enhancement requests.

Are Windows and AMT-LION reliable?

Yes, AMT-LION and Windows are extremely reliable, scalable, and efficient. It will be at the very least as reliable as you were used to with your expensive old mainframe hardware. We invite our prospective customers to speak with any of our current customers and discover their experiences and opinions.

Will it really run our critical business systems?

Absolutely! Our customers are currently running most or all of their business systems on AMT-LION, with no problems whatsoever. Actually, most of our customers report an increase in productivity.

Does this mean we can get rid of COBOL?

Yes, when migrating to AMT-LION or AMT-VS (Visual Studio®), your organization can move away from COBOL and start using an open systems environment.

How do we get started? And what is a Discovery process?

To get a detailed view of the conversion process necessary for your legacy systems, we use a process called ‘Discovery’. This helps Asysco to investigate and confirm all aspects of a proposed migration project. One or more Asysco consultants will help you investigate your legacy applications, examine your processes and data sources, and learn from your technical staff how the current systems are build and operated. This allows us to create a Discovery report that consists of a complete project plan with timelines, recommendations for hardware configuration and a fixed price quotation.
